Lobby Groups Urge UK to Include Blockchain in US-UK Tech Bridge Ahead of Trump’s State Visit
As U.S. President Donald TRUMP prepares for his UK state visit from September 17 to 19, a coalition of lobby groups is pushing for blockchain technology to be included in the US-UK Tech Bridge agenda. The initiative, designed to expand collaboration between the two nations in AI and cybersecurity, could see blockchain play a pivotal role in shaping future financial and administrative systems.
Bloomberg reports that UK Business and Trade Minister Peter Kyle has received a letter from groups including the UK Cryptoasset Businesses Council, UK Finance, and CityUK. The letter argues that blockchain's potential for secure, transparent record-keeping could revolutionize financial services, supply chain management, and public administration. Excluding digital assets, they warn, WOULD be a missed opportunity as Asia and the Middle East advance in setting the standards for the future of finance.
Trump's visit is expected to include high-profile discussions with executives from Nvidia, Apple, and OpenAI. The inclusion of blockchain in the Tech Bridge could further solidify the UK's position as a leader in emerging technologies.
